A native of Milwaukee, WI, Orvis has been setting and raising the bar for punks-turned-pickers ever since his days in .357 String Band -of which he is a founding and former member. Known for his lightning quick mandolin picking, he effortlessly infuses punk, rock, blues, gypsy, honky-tonk, bluegrass and old-time to develop a style all his own helping to define the sound of a genre while simultaneously, and gratifyingly, making it all that much more difficult to pin a name onto.
After leaving Milwaukee in 2007 he relocated to Pittsburgh, PA where he now calls home, that is when he's not touring nearly full-time as mandolin and banjo player with The Goddamn Gallows, or for his own project Jayke Orvis & The Broken Band. As singer, instrumentalist, composer, and bandleader, Orvis relies on an impressive live lineup assembled for The Broken Band

Jayke Orvis's debut offering, It's All Been Said, was released in 2010 on Farmageddon Records. The ten-song album, recorded by J.B. Beverly at his Richmond-based Rebel Roots Studio, highlights a more personal side of Orvis's songwriting, masterfully running the gamut from dusty countrified ballads to infectious, flat picked throw-downs between he and the other artists gathered for the recording, including J.B. Beverly, Johnny Lawless, Dan Mazer, James Hunnicutt, Avery (of The Goddamn Gallows), and cigar box guitar whiz Geo Ballentine.
It's All Been Said continues drawing more and more attention to Orvis who has recently received airplay on Sirius, earned an official endorsement from Weber Mandolins, and celebrates an Artist of the Year 2010 nod from Saving Country Music.

Black blooded sneaky bastards in pin stripe suits careening wildly through the shadows and gutters of neglected culture, the Peculiar Pretzelmen strum, slam, stomp, smack, smash, and scream the old and abandoned incantations raising the specters of all the spirits we left for dead. Pounding drums speaking in tongues, restlessly reinventing roadmaps until the riddles are all undone.

WhiskeyDick Biography 2004 - Present

At the lonesome crossroads where country and metal intersect, stand two swaggering badasses holding acoustic guitars. They're not interested in your soul they have plenty of soul already.

Cult favorites WhiskeyDick blow minds with a double barrel blast of dreadnaught shredding and hillbilly bellowing that makes you want to knock back a shot, stand up tall, and holler "Oh-Hell-YeeHaw!"

The Fort Worth duo carry on the Texas traditions of super-powered guitar slinging and clever songwriting that make lone star music a worldwide curiosity, except Reverend Johnson will remind you more of Dimebag Darrell than Billy Gibbons and Fritz remains more lyrically akin to David Allen Coe than Robert Earl Keen.

WhiskeyDick's live show is a true spectacle: two giant, tattooed, mean-looking dudes saunter on stage and sit down on 2 chairs, then pick up acoustic guitars and proceed to amaze everyone by generating more power than a full band by means of Fritz's deep, rich vocals, Johnson's unapproachable acoustic guitar heroics, and their triumphant songwriting.

"We're just a train robbin', gun totin', dope smokin', guitar pickin' muthafuckin' good time band. Taking hillbilly music and spreading it across the land."

Their lyrics are their lives. The duo plays over 200 shows year, bringing their country-fried, no-collar sensibilities to small towns and big cities across America and building faithful followers throughout. On their travels, they've shared stages with the likes of Ray Wylie Hubbard, HELLYEAH, Shooter Jennings, HellYeah, Scott H. Biram, Pentagram, Foghat, Joe Buck Yourself, Antiseen, Wayne "The Train" Hancock, Honky, Bob Wayne, Nashville Pussy, Reverend Horton Heat, Weed Eater, .357 String Band, Honky and The Supersuckers.

The metal-neck tandem, who formed in 2004, has produced 7 indie releases Rebel Flags and Whiskey, First Class White Trash, Drunk as Hell, The Wicked Roots, 100% Drunk Live Album - WhiskeyDick it Happens Ep double album on one cd and FROM THE DEVIL’S BOOTS- which yielded such live classics as “Drunk As Hell," "Evil's Got a Hold of Me," "Shooting Guns," "Barn Burner," "River of Sin," "Blacktooth Grin," "Fallen Heroes," “Christina," "YEEHAW" and the rarely performed, audience favorite "Wookie Pussy."

With their eighth album sitting in the Vault and there 9th in the works and their 1st international 9 Country tour begining August 19th, WhiskeyDick stands ready to introduce themselves to the world as the YEEHAW SOUND OF TEXAS.
